Avila Beach is just north of Pismo Beach and a few miles south and west of San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly where I went to college.
It is probably the most popular beach for students at Cal Poly.
Here we swam, body surfed, and enjoyed the sun while playing volleyball and cards on the beach.
I had an apartment in Avila during the off season of one of my years at Cal Poly and I have fond memories of the area.
